2011: Logomotion
This year’s game marks the 20th season since FRC first began in 1992 with the game Logomotion. The primary objective of the game is to position inner tubes shaped like regular polygons on pegs on either alliance wall. Two aspects of the game reflect the commemoration of the FIRST program. First, bonus points are awarded if the tubes are arranged to form a FIRST logo on the wall. Secondly, in efforts to foster cooperation and mentorship between FRC and FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge link) teams, a secondary objective of deploying a “Minibot” made primarily of FTC parts garners many points.
The game starts with an autonomous period for the first 15 seconds, where the robot cannot be controlled by drivers. Then teleoperated starts, where the robot can be controlled by human drivers and can score points using any game piece except for Ubertubes. Then during the final 15 seconds, the robot can deploy their minibots to climb the pole.
