2017-2018 Season Summary

The 2017-2018 season was one of the coolest yet. With a new theme and a new leadership team, the team was excited to see what the year would bring. With the same high turn out for club membership as the previous few years, the club trained its members to prepare for build season. The team continued to host FLL qualifiers and help out younger FIRST teams in the area. The team also hosted their annual SERC program.

The six week build season brought many changes to our team. We were able to have spirit gear again this year, with the team offering its members beanies and hoodies. Our robot also looked great, with painted wings and a city skyline engraved into the side, all with an 8-bit aesthetic. We also printed new, wooden pits walls to augment our old ones. But, the team had two remarkable changes. The first was the integration of metal into the originally all-wood robot. The second was the overhaul of the team’s logo and imagery, with new designs for the pokemon cards, pins, and and our team logo. At competition, the team was able to win the Entrepreneurship Award and looked amazing, with lots of spirit despite the robot being broken by collisions on the field. The season ended with a good foundation for a successful 2018-2019 season.
